My Ex-Wife

* No, I am not divorced. But all you married men in California also have an ex-wife. And California women have an ex-husband. That is because of Senate Bill 1306 signed into law by Jerry Brown on 7/7/14. Admittedly, the law does not go into effect until January 1, 2015, so I guess I can still keep my wife until then.

* Under SB 1306 all references to "husband" and "wife" are deleted from the California Family Code and are replaced by "spouse." You may have been unaware of the inherent bias every time you used the words "husband" or "wife."

* However, according to legislator Mark Leno of San Francisco: "This legislation removes outdated and biased language from State codes and recognizes all married spouses equally, regardless of their gender." I find that comment to be biased. Is Mr. Leno unaware that under California law we no longer have different genders? Does he not know that any sex may use any public school restroom or play on any sport team, based simply on how they feel?

* Logically, if the words "husband" and "wife" reflect bias, then the same must be said for "mother" and "father." After all, the differences for both are based on sex. I challenge anyone to point to any difference. I hereby demand that California mandate an end to the use of the words "mother" and "father." Don't think that's serious? They have already done just that in France.

* So, what should we celebrate on those special days in May and June? Parent Unit One Day and Parent Unit Two Day? But who gets to be One and who gets to be Two? At least we can have new expressions, such as "G-d, Parent Unit One and apple pie." Warms the heart, does it not?

* Now, while you may find this post to be somewhat tongue-in-cheek, the Truth-Uncensored said long ago that, regardless of which side of the gay marriage debate you are on, nobody is thinking through to where this may ultimately lead. But now we see. Now we see the ultimate goal of elimination of the very concepts of "man" and "woman." Those terms will be the next to go, along with "mother" and "father." As noted above, the idea of "boys" and "girls" is already gone from our public schools.

* Now maybe some of you are fine with this brave new world of language and thinking. Maybe you think words like "mother" and "father" should be relegated to history, and thought of in the same manner as the "N" word. But I'd be willing to bet that very few of you thought where the changing of the definition of marriage would lead us.
